Plan to Tackle Drug Resistant TB
With 81,000 cases of TB in Europe, according to the WHO, 53 countries ahve drawn up a plan to fight the spread of drug resistant TB together. Eperts say if this work, it could save upto 120,000 lives by 2015. (BBC News)

Overweight Indians Opting for Surgery
With almost a quarter of the population falling in the overweight and urban obesity rates as high as 40%, hospitals are dealing with an increased number of patients opting for gastric surgery. The patients are those who have nt shifted their weight through diet and exercise. (AFP)

Are Early Risers Healthier People
A diet that included flaxseed could potentially cut the risk of breast cancer by as much as 40%. Researchers say that this is probably the reason why there is a lower risk of breast cancer among Asian women. (Daily Mail)

Keep Breast Cancer at Bay with Flaxseed
Despite being associated with the munchies, a new study in the American Journal of Epidemiology found that pot smokers were less likely to be overweight or obese compared to non-smokers. While the study stressed that there is no connection between weed and weight loss, it did find interesting results such as religious people are more likely to be obese. (Time)

Two Cancers on a Rise Globally
And on the other hand, breast cancer and cervical cancer cases are rising across the planet. According to The Lancet, breast cancer cases rose to 1.6 million cases in 2010, up 3.1% per year since 1980 and cervical cancer rose 0.6% per year to 454,000 cases in 2010. (ABC)

Apples Keep Strokes Away?
Apparently, there’s a good chance that they could. A study on 20,000 adults found that stroke cases were lower in those who ate one apple a day. The co-relation could be linked to the plant compound called quercetin. (Telegraph)

Eyelids Warn of Heart Attacks
According to a study conducted by the British Medical Journal, yellow eye-lids – a sign of fat buildup in the body – could be an early indicator or warning sign of heart attacks and other lifestyle diseases. (BBC News)
